I don't see any reason to fix this.
1)Nobody will ever know it is off by 3/16ths.
2)It will not affect any other aspect of the construction.
3)Nobody will ever know
4)Removing the sides could result in damage to the sides or the block
5) nobody will ever know.
6) It will not affect any other steps in the construction
7) NOBODY WILL EVER KNOW!!!!
My vote is to leave it alone and move on.
