I use this for getting a perfect hook - the angle can be adjusted from extremely thin to a more aggressive one with a turn of a knob. Yep, they're 30 bucks or so - for me completely worth it - for others perhaps a waste of money. But I do get great hooks quickly.

How do you get an edge? Do you use a mill file or a sharpening stones? Or both like in the video?

I use the stones, now, same ones I use for general sharpening - a 400 grit dia-something and an 8000 grit takanoko stone, as seen on Brian Burns' sharpening vid.

I think I am going to go all stones as well. A sharp scraper is a dream tool.
