John your work is very impressive and inspiring. Thanks for posting all that knowledge. One can learn a lot from pictures. How old are you and did someone teach you how to build classical? You don't have to answer the age part if you don't want to. Also that guitar is beautiful.

Thanks Paul, I was born early in 1955, so I am 58. Using a few different books, mainly John Bogdanovich and Cumpiano and the free Robbie O'Brien DVD I got with an LMI kit I built 2 classical guitars from kits, the second less serviced than the first. I have had one on two training with Rick Davis for building a steel string. By that time I had read most of the literature available but working with some one who knew how to properly use tools was eye opening for me. I also started to pick up how he approached building guitars. Now I have Robert O'Brien full classical guitar class, and have been watching it.
I am still finding each build a training lesson.

If you look closely at my "old bridge, you can see a slight taper on the wings. I had nicked a courner and had fixed it with the taper and made the bridge symmetrical. but I could not really let it go so I pulled a new blank and carved my second bridge without the compromised wings. You can see the comparison below.
Getting a bit farther on the FP as well.

Loving the reflection of the workshop in the guitar FP so far John. Beautiful bridge too.

I LIKE the binding. The contrast is very cool! The more I see of FP the more I lean toward it...I know it's a lot of work but done correctly it sure stands out.
P.S.
In 1955, I was learning my first 6 string harmony cords from Merle Travis...unfortunately, the rest of it never rubbed off on me... :>) talk about old, I'm from March, just before dirt was invented.
