Dave, Yes, I will be pore filling with Z-poxy. First I need to fit the neck.

Ray, I had a conversation with the future owner today and after some prodding, he finally told me something HE wants done. His initials on the first fret. Everything I have done so far, I have suggested to him and he says yes. He admitted he doesn't want to make the build harder for me so he has remained silent. I said it is YOUR guitar! Tell me what YOU want! Needless to say, I will be adding his initials to the first fret. Though I may try to talk him out of that in favor of the 12th fret. He wants position markers on the fret board too, so I don't want it to look bad. I will need to do a mock up or something.

Thanks Ken H. I really love ziricote and I am glad he picked it or I may have never gotten to it! It is a messy wood to sand though. The dust is black and really seems fond of the sound board. Good thing I sealed it!!
Boy...I certainly agree with the 12th fret...OR the last at the bottom like Clapton did...but like you said, his choice I guess...it sure would look better at the 12th IMHO for what ever that's worth...it wouldn't buy you a cup of 1950 coffee I'm thinkn'

The wood is something, how about allergies? No problems? Respirator? again...I'm thinkin' that's what all the smoke is...coming out of my ears...rubbing those 3 brain cells together...whew...gettin' HOT in here...gotta go outside where it's 19 degrees and cool off.

Hey Tony, this is going to be a great guitar. I can't afford Zircote, but if my guitar gets ruined in a flood, will you make me one?????
Thanks for sharing this build with us all.
Actually at the wood shop I get some wood from last time I was in there in Jan he had two boards of awesome quality Zircote for sale. One was $300 and would have yielded two sets, the other was $349 and may have yielded 3 sets, but I was too scared to try and resaw it as they were both only 1" thick.
Can't wait to see yours finished!

Thanks Ray. He is coming around to the idea of another fret.

Kevin,
If you bone up on your resaw skills, those boards would be great deals. I got this set off of eBay for a song, and what I mean by that is under $150. The other set I have was a bit more, but still not expensive compared to the prices on the usual websites. I think this is going to be a killer looking guitar. Hopefully it sounds half as good as it looks!

I got some more work done.
Bound the sound port:

And after copious amounts of sanding, I began pore filling:

So that is where I am now. The owner is trying to find a font he likes to make an inlay from. He wants his initials on the 12th fret.
Thanks for looking!

Still looking good! I like the bound soundport, a niced finished touch.

Thanks Kevin. I finished the pore filling last night. Now I need to work on an inlay on the neck and then I can finish that up. Then it is on to lacquer!
