Nicely done Dave. I'm following with great interest as I am starting an Irish bouzouki based on the design in Graham McDonald's book. Are you using a single bolt/mortise and tenon neck joint?

That is EXACTLY what I'm using.
Good, I will follow yours with interest.

I did the two slots per pin on my 12 string following the same tutorial and it worked out well. Given that you are slotting the saddle you do not need to be overly concerned about the distance between slots. Your newsouki looks to be a very cool instrument.

I have confidence in the build, but won't rest easy till I test that bridge on the torrefied top.
Thanks for the ANZLF link some time back.

Bridge pin slots.
I measured the windings at the ball ends to see what kind of slots I would need.
After that, I used a pin vice (hobby shop) and a piece of coping saw blade to cut thin grooves where I want the finalized grooves.
Then I put the light from my light box in there, and chucked dremel bit into the pin vise, turned on the light inside the box to follow my progress. It works very well. Finally I chucked the dremel bit into the dremel extension and used that to finalize the grooves.
So far so good - a bit of tweaking to make sure the ball ends pull up against the bridge plate, and good separation at the top.
Good times.

It is 11:40 PST. I am walking out to the shop, having finished the zerofret nut earlier this morning. All that awaits is for me to string it up. I will do that.
I will take a photo when the strings are up to pitch - if indeed they will tune to pitch before the bridge pops off the torrefied top.
I will also take a photo if the bridge has popped off.
I will remain calm. <not>
