so interestingly enough i have the same kit the 2 previous individuals have i also have the exact same issue if it cannot be fixed well on to the next kit and chalk it up to learning however i will attempt to continue to fit the neck if for nothing more than an education. examining the situation makes me think there ar 2 problems. problem 1= i am on my first build and obviously did not gather enough info before starting assembly. i believe i improperly sanded the back radius causing the head block to tilt inwards at the top when i glued the back on. problem 2= the dove tail tenon or mortise is not machined properly and would require shims no matter what even if problem 1 had not been created. in an attempt to repair this i will transfer the calculated angle of the head block/sound board and transfer this to the neck cheeks. this should give me my 180 deg angle as described previously in this post then if needed i will trim the tenon if necessay as it may contact the back of the mortise after this adjustment. i will then shim and adjust for proper neck heigth and center line. does this seem the proper order of things by the way also carefully checking for the proper clearance at the bridge as well. sorry to bring this up again but would hate to scrap his first one with out at least learning somehting from it. thanks in advance
Beau

Trust me, there are/were far more individuals with the exact same problem -- this marketing/engineering flaw had much to do with the design and release of the KMG "Success Kit Package."
So what are the heel cheek and sound-board to rim angles? -- they cannot be arbitrary and add up to 180 degrees, there is a range that may work

according to the article you linked earlier in this post angle b = 91.82 and angle a = 88.7 please check my math on anble b
opposite measurment = .125 adjacent measurement = 3.938 hypotenuse = 3.906
i had to measure angle a with an old plastic protractor so there could be a variance of 1 or 2 tenths
thanks

i presume this would mean if i transfered the angle to the neck angle a would then be 86.88 deg

Huh?
3.906?
How about this for starters -- post a picture with an adjustabe right angle square placed tight against the rim at the neck block laying across the sound board. You should have a gap at the rim to sound board.

i will get a pic shortly the measurement between the edge of the sound board and the edge of the square is .125 or 1/8 inch

When you pinch a straight edge down against the finger-board extension area on the sound board how high is it off the sound board near the saddle location (about 12.5 inches from the neck block)? A 1x2 on edge is a good straight edge for this measurement.
