Well, you know its something, I never noticed before -- but indeed the "X is a much wider spread than the standard "D" The template is based off an actual de-constructed guitar (by Preston Thompson) so its the way they were made. D35's have 1/4 in bracing but they are not scalloped. The big J200 (some models) have scalloped 1/4" bracing.

You had me worried for a moment - but it does look like the Ditson pattern has a slightly wider x-brace angle than the standard D-28.
Mine looks to have the same x-brace angle as Dave Bagwill's cutaway Ditson (Dave, hope you don't mind me referencing your build here) - and we both went for 1/4 bracing, though mine are scalloped.

A little more progress this weekend.
The KMG MegaMold makes contouring the back so easy and precise. Thank you Ken for engineering such great tools.
Just starting to fit the top - inletting the ends of the x-braces and the upper transverse brace.

Can't wait to hear this thing - so huge compared to the little 00-12.

Next steps on the Ditson.
Glued in the tail block reinforcing strip:
Made a little label from some old paper:
And glued the back on - love the KMG Mega Mold.
