Just curious, Tim, at what stage did you encounter the gluing trouble on the torrified tops. In the building stage or on finished guitars?

Finally, I bought a ready to use fish glue. I can tell yout is it great. It has the just right thickness to spread and has a long working time. I cures hard and clear. Maybe this will be my favored glue for the future.

Aaah, Tim, trouble on a finished guitar, that is so frustrating. I had it once when damaging a top at a point the guitar was ready.
It comes with the game, but I see your reason very well not to use other glues.
