Here is the violin now with the second coat of color.
I added some more burnt umber and red pigment to the varnish so it would hopefully darken more. It looks like it will get where I want it to end up with a few more coats

It looks darker in the pics than it really is. Must have been in the shade. But I like it.

Good job! Be patient with the drying. I did oil-varnish one of my latest and after 2 month the finish is still vulnerable for nail dents. No wonder violin makers have a bunch of them hanging on the ceiling.

6 coats of colored varnish. Will do at least 2 more. Then will consider if I want to try and get darker.

8th color coat. A little darker. Not alot of change.
I may do one more today...or maybe not
