Got me some fish glue today. How much do you thin it? Here it says 1 on 1, but to me that is far too thick. Almost gelly.

I don't thin mine but it may be a different type. Mine gets jelly like in the refrigerator but thins out at room temp. Might want to test it first. Overall it is a it thicker than TB or HHG. Squeeze out cleans up very easily with a little warm water on a cloth or paper towel.

It is strange. All liquid fish glue is fluid in a store bought bottle. I thinned my fish glue (from flakes) to a hot fluid consistency.
But when cooled down mine is just as gummy as hide glue is when at room temperature. Huh? Help?

I only have used fish glue from a bottle. It is pretty gummy and tacky stuff. Are you says yours is totally congealed like it would not flow at all.

I've used it only from the bottle, but warm it up a bit - perhaps not necessary, but it does flow a little better. It is gooey.

As an experiment I thinned the fish glue with an hughe amount of water.
And: It still congeals when cooled to room temperature!
So I think fish glue in a bottle is something different than glue from flackes. The bottle version seems to be treated with consevatives and stuff to keep it fluid.

I ordered a bottle of "Canadian" fish glue in Germany. See how that behaves. I'll let you know.
(maybe we should pass this discussion the the adhesives chapter)
