You are getting there Paul. On the fretboard, I use a caul on top that helps distribute the clamping pressure so I use at least half that many clamps.

Some neck progress. I’m about 5/16 from top to bottom of bridge. Neck is bolted in with straight edge on top of frets. I think I should be ok any thoughts are good of course.

5/16" can be low depending how tall your bridge. I like to just clear the bridge with the straight edge sitting on the frets. Sorry I have to convert to metric starting at 8 mm I like to subtract 1 mm for string tension then add in 5 mm for 2.5 mm action for 12 mm total height. I shoot for 14 mm height, so I would be looking for 7/16".

John I may have worded this wrong. I have a 5/16“ space at the bridge location measured off the straight edge.

That is what I thought you wrote, 5/16" measured at the bridge location. I am assuming from the top to the bottom of the straight edge at the bridge location. The straight edge is sitting on the frets. On a steel string I want it to project just over the bridge. So it still seems low to me unless you have an especially thin bridge. A typical bridge is 3/8" or 6/16", I would probably be between 7/16" and 3/8". Maybe I am missing something.

John we are in understanding. I guess my next question is do I need to adjust my neck angle to get the 7/16-3/8” space?. I would be at 9/32” bridge thickness and . a smidge above it with the straight edge sitting on the frets if my math is right. If I do nothing at this point. Also it looks as if the fingerboard would be pulling off the top if I start playing around with the angle. I hope I am making sense!. And thanks for your support!
