I hope so. I should string it up either this Thursday or Friday. This top is high gloss and the B/S/Neck are satin.Kevin in California wrote:It's going to be pure sweetness!
I use the same dye the Martin Factory does (so I'm told) it is W.D. Lockwood #144 Early American Maple - Golden Amber. Believe it or not it can go on very light or with multiple sprays very dark. I spray it on the bare wood with a 1 mm needle in my gun. I spray it very light let it dry completely (couple hours) and repeat until I get the color I want. I learned the technique from Dale Bartholomew who worked in the Martin Finishing shop for 35 years and was the supervisor for many years.peter havriluk wrote:I'm taken by the comment 'I spray stained the neck'. I'd love to know with what, when in the finishing process. I'm too unfamiliar with nuances of finishing to attach the comment to a technique I know, so I'm at a loss as to what actions/materials the comment refers to. Color sure looks nice.
Much obliged for any clarification. Thanks.
