Tim,you sir are a true artist. Loved the sound that guitar produced. I feel better now. I thought I had bought a piece of flooring. But that sound along with that Golden color makes me want to play it already. Thanks for that Buddy.

The second guitar I built was African mahogany and it can look very nice indeed. It has a warmer sound than Rosewood to my ears, and you may already have played guitars made of this a s it was once dyed brown to make it look a bit like Rosewood. In fact it can look lovely with the right finish. So here's a picture of number 2 which is a fingerstyle set up...when I get time to play.

Dave, very very nice. Thank you for posting that guitar. I'm feeling much better about buying this wood now. I got a plank 60 inches x 11"x5/4's so I got a good hunk of it for 30 bucks including shipping. There's enough for a couple guitars and maybe a Uke or two. Going to slice it up to get as much out of it as I can.

The two guitars shown here are Mahogany the one on the right is African and actually is one of my every day players -- very nice. However the one on the left is Sapele, an outstanding sounding guitar (the clips do not give it justice) I gave that on to my son. Both were prototypes for the KMG kits.

Thank you Ken. Who said that's probably the most often phrase used on this forum? Thank you Ken. We'll let me tell you I read online as much as I could within reason. I didn't find any one saying it was tonewood. Although very close to Sapele which we know as Tonewood. But all the responses I've received on this thread eases my mind. I even told my wife of my concerns. To be be honest if it had turned out to be flooring I was going to make something anyway. It has a nice wavy stripe to it plus some I guess you would call them tiny knots. Even if the fall out that will just make it sound better. Look at Willies Trigger. I'm sure it's that guitar that makes Willie sound like that. Lol been listening to him since the fifties and his songs are gems. But for a guitar that his hands "ate up" it hasn't gotten worse in the last 35 years. Maybe he finally learned how not to destroy his guitar when playing it. Thanks to everyone who have contributed to this thread. As you all know I've had one heck of the last two weeks. But things are settling down a little now.

Searching through tonewood suppliers yesterday and found a guitar made with African Mahogany. Looked nice. So I'm beginning to feel a lot better about my purchase
