FYI all the production benders at KMG have aluminum covered forms and aluminum slats -- the exception is on the cutaway bender which uses two layers of .007" SS shim stock. With daily use the slats have held up perfectly for years.

My slats are stainless. Ken says aluminum works good too. Get what ever you can that is available and priced right.
I covered my molds in 28 gauge galvanized because I could get it for free. It is working out fine.

by the way, I have the end and neck block glued to the rims now and the inside cleaned up. I also got the back plates joined with a zig zag center strip sandwiched in.
Looks great on the EIR. I'll post pics tomorrow.

Take care with the galvinized steel -- on some materials it will cause green and black stains, a layer of parchment paper may help, for sure always use distilled water no matter what kind of metal.

Made some progress this weekend.
Glued the end blocks to the sides, glued in the top kerfing, and joined the back plates.

I recall reading that aluminum slats will cause Koa to turn green. Probably worth looking into if you plan to use aluminum because I certainly don't trust my memory and neither should any of you!
