Strange story there - he learned woodworking from his dad who did it for a living - furniture mostly I believe - and when this guy started on his own he asked his dad about dust and got a gruff answer along the lines of 'anyone who can't take a little sawdust does not belong in a wood shop' or something like that.
I have never seen as much dust as what is put out by the machine I build - - I've bumped up my dust collection efforts to handle it.
YES he needs a dust mask.
