Herman - attached pic. Cheeks are angled in a bit so that only the outside portion of the cheeks touches the guitar, and makes it easier to 'floss' etc.

Oh, that issue. I do that with a chisel. Also on the "heelcap-end".
I love heelcaps, but I could easily make a capless dovetail. In fact I make them always till all the jointparts fit right and put the cap on afterwards.

You know I got the best cheek to body fit on the first 4 or 5 guitars I made when I was cutting those cheeks on my table say, incorporating in the relief and the neck angle in two compound cuts, one for each side. I may go back to that and forget the tenon cutting using a jig and router.
