Here's the Curly Cherry scarf joint neck rough machined --Titebond Original no trace color at all. The back of the HS line is apparent because it is very difficult to get a perfect grain pattern match -- however it looks fine.

What is stronger doing it this way or cutting neck profile from a single board and gluing together three or more pieces?

Either is stronger than a one piece blank -- Laminated necks however are generally made of layers of the wide and thin contrasting materials not only adding strength but in some cases yielding extremely attractive necks.
