As I mentioned, I don't know much about spraying. But - if it can be done very successfully with rattle cans - why not with with this? The guitar is a pretty small project, after all. Just askin'..

Regarding Tim losing a post -- what can happen and its happened to me -- if two posts are sent simultaneously from two members one post can get lost -- I guess a flaw in the software is the only explanation.

I think Kathy Matasushita used the preval sprayer to finish her first few intstruments, If I'm not mistaken, and they look pretty darn good.

Hi...I just saw this thread today...I haven't used the PreVal sprayers to do a whole instrument, but I do use it now to do the shellac seal coats (2) I do between the pore filling and the finish coats (EM6000). I just find it easier to use the PreVal for the shellac coats, instead of using my HVLP spray gun & compressor for that small job. I use the HVLP setup for the EM6000, and don't want to have to clean the spray gun/container of the shellac before I use it for the waterbase. It sprays the shellac (SealCoat) pretty smoothly.

Can you leave the shellac (I assume thinned) in the container/sprayer or do you have to spray alcohol through the Preval to clean the nozzle valve etc.?

From my experience with them, that's what I use the extra bottle for. I spray a little solvent thru to clean it out. I made the mistake of turning it upside down like a rattle can to clear it once and it runs all over. Made a mess.
