Re: #7 Black limba and Lutz spruce Dread
Walnut can sometimes have just about any color in it although sometimes subtle. I had looked at a piece for weeks on a website deciding on whether to buy it or not. This piece was highly figured, multi-colored and it had a kinda wide green streak going down one side of it and when I say green I mean loud, vivid green. Finally I decided the purchase this piece and when I contacted the purveyor I was informed that he had sold it just the night before, RATS!!!

Re: #7 Black limba and Lutz spruce Dread
I carved the braces and sanded everything nice on the soundboard tonight. Once I add the Popsicle brace and the sound hole braces I will be just about ready to prep the rim for closing the box. I am using a modified X-brace pattern on this guitar. One finger brace per side, and one tone bar. I also shifted the X-brace closer to the sound hole by about half an inch and opened the angle by a few degrees versus the template. I have done this on all but my first guitar and I think it works well. At least it seems to make a nice sounding guitar from what my ears have been telling me! Here is a picture:

Thanks Dave. I do not inlet the lower legs into the linings any longer. I did it in my first two but I stopped. I think it let's the top move more. Key word: think!
Hasn't seemed to have hurt anything and some people think that inletting the lower legs can cause the braces to pop loose if the guitar is bumped. I try not to bump my guitars if I can help it!
