That neck may have a neck extension and neck block extension that would allow the neck to mount just like an electric guitar neck. The heel is only for show.

Actually it does have a dovetail joint that is glued in, no extensions or anything like that. I'm getting the information from Michael Collins' book.
That's an interesting guitar you posted there.

Ah, I see, there seems to be a good hunk of neck toward the top of the guitar that would support a dovetail joint.

Right. But I want to do a butt joint, using that same profile, and want to be sure to leave enough 'meat' for the bolts and inserts.
