I tried to make a pic of Wengé, but my camera dropped in one of the pores. Can't find it. Sorry.

Not much for pores in Sapele. Just about the most under rated, under priced wood out there. Sometimes a pain to bend but with the right set up it's excellent wood.

I sure agree that Sapele is a pain to bend especially the figured stuff and underrated too -- but it is very porous just like Mahogany. I've used a lot of it and it all had to be filled. Perhaps your billet was out of the norm?
