Walnut and curly redwood OM

The end block is Baltic birch plywood. The plywood is slightly lighter and is less likely to split, so I'm told. The brace wood is adi. The original thought was to go with a stiffer brace wood to make up for a less stiff figured top. Don't know if it will work, or if it even makes scientific sense but its worth a try. I know once the top was braced it had a nice sound to it. And Dave I think you hit that mark more often than you think. Thanks for the compliments.

That top looks crazy with the CA on it. It is not so much a rolling curl like you usually see, it almost looks geometric if that makes sense. The curls seem to be squared off. Really cool! I hope it sounds as good as it looks because it will definitely be a phenomenal guitar if it does!

Been a while since I've updated this so I figure I would show some progress. The box is closed and I've started working on the binding. It will be slow going on the cut away. Even if it turn out well I think it will be a while before I try a florentine again. Everything else has been fairly easy to do only offering the occasional challenge, but the binding is a real pain in the a to get right. I knew this going in though. I'm not going the route of metering all three corners together. I will miter the edge binding and butt it up to the binding on the point. Hopefully it still looks good when it's all done. I also started on the neck. I wanted to build a mortise and tenon jig, but after some reading decided I could probably cut the tenon by hand and still get the angle close. I cut the tenon but I have not cut the mortise yet. I need to make the template to cut it out. No pics of the neck right now but here are some of the box and the start of the binding.

Looks real good to me Kyle..I think better than if it was mitered.

That is one wild top. I am looking forward to seeing this guitar go forward. I think the binding details look good. I am going to start my first guitar that has a cut away so I appreciate the photos.

Fretboard almost done. I may install a 12th fret marker but haven't decided yet. Still needs some cleaning up.
