Next on the volute. It is not that very difficult or special, but Dave want this execution on paper.
So: After the straight part of the neck is straight indeed, this is how the volute looks. The bulk was taken of earlier.

Image

On the right side I took the wood off, starting at the edge. With a sharp chisel and slow, till the curve is fluent up to the neckpart. Then with a bit of sanding:

This is how it looks from aside. Fluent is the word.

Here the left side is due. You can see I made a little flaw on the edge. Do not worry. That can be corrected later on. It only takes a little of the volute's height.

Now I take my bottleneck. So it has it purpose, since I suck at slideplaying.
This makes the curve in the volute. Go slow on the edgeside, because you see every symmetry-issue there.

Flatten the transition to the headstock. till this is fluent too.

From aside:

This is how the temporary status is. Quite nice, but there are some asymmetries visable. But I'll leave them till the final sanding.

The looks from aside.
You see, it is easy to do. But you cannot measure here, so depend on you eyes and fingers. Good exercise for them.

Thanks for detailing that procedure Herman!
Time for me to ga terug naar tekentafel?

(I hope that is the right phrase, and not a vow to castrate myself!)

Dave, It is not a castrating vow, but a nasty spell. You might have an ugly thing on your forehead tomorrow morning.

Thanks guys, glad you find it useful.
