Acoustic Guitar Construction

It is 7/8" Ken. Works out fine with the size heel cap I use.
Here are some pics of the back purfling all scraped and sanded flush. One pic shows the spot where I lost some color, not terrible but it will stand out to the trained eye.......

Guess I need more eye training because I can't see it. Looks great!

First picture right above the center area of the purfling, there is a section that looks like zebra stripes......SEEEEEE.
What I'm wondering, because I don't have much experience with shell, is if I sand this area a little further, am I LIKELY to get back into some color again? Does anyone have some experience with shell doing this? I may take some scrap abalone and sand on it and see what happens.
I can live with it, but I'd sure like it to be better.

looks entirely within the color range of the shell. With nice transitions into and out of the color.

Thanks guys. I'm still contemplating sanding a little there to see what happens....I know, I know!!!
I glued the bindings on the top last night and today I installed the shell purflings there. Putting some layers of CA on now. Will hopefully scrape and sand it down tomorrow afternoon. It looks pretty good, don't want to loose any color on the top, so I'll be careful as I go.
