I have some nice mahogany in the mold and I'm trying to plan ahead a little..I would really like to recreate the darker look of the era...
for some reason, it really doesn't look like a MAHOGANY but I know it is...maybe it's darkened some but my Uncle bought his nice D-18 that hasn't been out much and he swore it had that color when he bought it in 1939.
There does appear to be some red overtones to me...but it looks much more like some rosewoods.
Any ideas?

Re: The look of mahogany (Stained?) with the Martins of the
There's really no quick answer for this question
Lets start by asking if you plan to use a water borne finish, I assume so since that is the current topic header.
Post a picture of the wood, day light only no flash
Note that there is experimentation involved to get it right -- so some test panels are also necessary.
