While i am recovering from sanding through "Spot" and adding another piece of "decorative wood trim". ( build one is now called spot because the lessons learned have caused me to hide my mistakes with a contrasting wood and it now looks like my pointer), I have decided to go ahead and work on another build while the affects of my mistakes are still seared in my mind. I bought a few templates from Ken and wanted to start on the Martin size 5. Ok here is where its ok for you guys to laugh. If i had a side piece long enough to go all the way around and only have a joint at the neck block would this work. I would have to bend by hand on a pipe bender but I figure I need to get the mistakes and notebook entry's out of the way by build 3.

It could work Jim, but it is not very handy to manipulate a 6 feet wooden plate around the iron and mold.
And I guess It would be a good way to fill your notebook, tough.
But do not tease yourself too much, and stick with your second to methods that are proven to work. (NAFA, Not asked for advise)
Good luck on your choices.

Ditto John -- The end graft is part of the art, as is the convergence of grain pattern. I believe that even a master bender would have difficulties getting all the curve apexes to be in the right place. $.02

Re: thoughts on the next build
Well i didn't have a reason to specifically try this. but I thought why not. i have everything to learn anyway and I just thought it would be cool to try it. i didn't think of the problem of if one bend is slightly off it would transfer all the way around and any other deviation would magnify till it would up looking like a corkscrew. So I will bend the sides on a pipe anyway but two sides. Thats not to say i wont try it in the future. Maybe as the last entry in volume one. Thanks
