Sanding right up to the fret

What is your best method of getting out fretboard scratches that are right up against the fret? Not close, I mean right there?

I'm hoping for one of those "why the hell didn't I think of that" answers. This is something I hate dealing with also.

Maybe I've been lucky at this technique, but I've done pretty well with using a razor blade as a scraper. Start at the opposite fret from the scratch and lightly scrape in the perpendicular direction to the frets, i.e., lengthwise down the fretboard, and scrape right up to the fret.

Hasn't worked that well for me, as far as removing the scratches I'm talking about. Maybe I need to re-visit the method.

+1 That's how I do it. I use a stiff box blade not the safety type with only one edge.

Single edge razor blade as a scraper shown here:

A very thin card scraper with a slightly burnished hook should work too.
