I used to get frustrated with trying to cut the string clearance notches in a bridge. All I could think of was to use the smallest round diamond file that I had. Time consuming and the notch was tapered to macth the profile of the file.

I ran across this article a couple of months ago and built myself one. I already had everything I needed, and you probably do too. It works great for cutting the string clearance notch. It turns out, this handy little knife is good for lots of other things too. I just used it yesterday to cut the binding even with the dovetail in the neck block. As a matter of fact, I liked it so much that I just made another one using one of those mini hack saw blades, with finer teeth.

Anyway, I thought I'd share it since it's now one of those things that "I can't live without" and somebody else might find it useful too.

I made mine from a jig saw blade. A little thicker and stiffer. Works good, I do need to put a handle on it though.
