Well, I picked a winner for this guitar. He lost everything in the storm, including 4 guitars. His house has been condemned by the city and scheduled for demolition. I had no idea about the house when I picked him, but I learned about it after. Anyway, a reporter from CBS radio called me one day and asked to do a story about the giveaway, so here is a link to that:
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/01/28/ ... oklyn-man/
You can listen to the story as it aired yesterday, 1/28/13, and hear comments from the winner and me, link is in the middle of the page.
Andrew picked a really nice set of ziricote for this build, here is a pic of the wood:
The guitar so far, is going to be an OM with a Manzer wedge and a spruce top. Nothing else is set in stone except for part of the rosette which will be the tree mentioned in the story. I have not figured out how I will use it exactly, but it will become part of the rosette.
I will post pics as the work progresses.
Thanks for looking,
Tony

That's awesome Tony - both the wood, and the story. And of course you, but that goes without saying...

Thanks guys. I am really happy with how the whole giveaway turned out. It has been a great experience and some people, who shall not be named, have made offers of HUGE contributions to the guitar. They should also be commended, but many of them do not wish to be named. I came here and asked for help to get the word out, so I can't be anonymous. The people who donated to the guitar and have not done so publicly are excellent people as well. I wish I could thank everyone by name, but I can not. However, I am very grateful to all of you for helping me spread the word of this giveaway, and the support I have received.
You are an awesome bunch of guys. This guitar will also be awesome and Andrew will be a very happy guy when he gets it!

Re: Build Thread-Hurricane Sandy Giveaway Guitar
Excellent. I have a good idea how the guy feels. The year before Sandy upstate NY got hit hard (Binghamton area) and my sister and you husband lost EVERYTHING. House was condemned and they got out with their dog and their cars. Re-building is traumatic.
