Jason's first build - KMG 00 experiential kit walnut/spruce

Post by Dave Bagwill » Tue Jan 22, 2013 9:03 pm

Jason started about the same time as Eric, but comes in the afternoon. This is his senior project, and he is doing well. Both these guys are fun to have in the shop, and I hate to take the exorbitant amount of money from them that I do, but I take it gladly to pay for supplies and overhead and stuff. I make tens of dollars per instrument! I'm gonna take a vacation on the money in about 120 years. :-)
I'll try not to overlap their progress pictures too much as I know that can get pretty boring.

A little love tap to the fret ends to seat them and stabilize them for the pressing-in.

Flushing up the fret ends. I showed a little mercy, after he had suffered a bit, and let him use the belt sander to clean it up. I'm mean.

I'll bet this is fun. Good for you Dave. Save up and take a trip to Portland.

Pretty cool senior project! Back in the day -- I remember guys working on coffee tables and bird houses!

Keep the pics coming Dave, this is great fun to watch their progress. And for the record, I don't think you're mean for holding back on the belt sander :) Actually, having sanded right through my fingernail once on a belt sander I kind of prefer the old-school approach!
