What are the non-F clamp devices?

Heavy duty miter clamps -- I think Grizzly sells them.

Cumpiano in his old book shows a simple clamping jig for this too.....they all try to accomplish the same thing.

I need to make me one cause I'm always fighting the slip and slide effect.

Why not a couple of wooden dowels that would be covered by the headstock veneer anyway? Not drilled all the way through obviously, unless you are veneering the back of the headstock as well. Like I said, I know nothing of the process yet, though I will by the end of the summer. :-)

Dowels might work -- let us know. Seems it adds a new locating fixture and an extra clamped set up to get things perfectly aligned, drilled, then unclamp, glue, re-clamp. Or maybe not, I don't know.

I have the Cumpiano book leveling the leg on a bench (just kidding) I'll take a look at his idea.

Actually Cumpiano's scarf joint glue station does include perhaps the most important feature and that is the stop blocks at the ends of both pieces -- with those in the proper position the parts cannot slide along the angle.
