Would someone explain this?
Maybe a diagram would help - but I've read somewhere about gluing together some non-1/4-sawn wood and ending up with quarter saw or something like that? I do NOT get it. I am also probably framing the question incorrectly. If you can read my mind - I'll take off the tinfoil hat for a few minutes - please help me on this.

Re: Would someone explain this?
You can take flatsawn lumber and cut neck profiles out of it and when you glue them up the grain will be vertical...magic...quartersawn. If you don't understand, I think I have a Maple blank like this in shop I can try to get a good picture for you.
Re: Would someone explain this?
Exactly -- all our laminated necks are made from flat sawn material, when you stand it on the narrow edge it is a vertical grain sandwich.

Dave if you find a minute sometime to shoot an explanatory pic it would really help. The visualizing thing has never been my strong suit which is, surprisingly, sandwiches. :-)
Thanks.
Thanks.

I will study that, Dave. There are just some concepts that kick my butt. It looks like you've simply turned the sandwich on its side?
