Hurricane/Storm Sandy - are you in the path?

Post by Dave Bagwill » Sun Oct 28, 2012 12:56 pm

I'm just wondering who on the Forum is in the path of the 'frankenstorm'? What are you doing to prepare? Will it affect your voting? More importantly, can you build a guitar during the middle of the storm? :-)

(BTW, I thought Obama, in addition to stopping the oceans from rising and bringing everlasting peace, also promised to stop hurricanes, but maybe I'm wrong..may have been Al Gore.. )

I'm on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Schools and government offices have already closed for tomorrow. I'm not too close to the water, so I'm not overly concerned about flooding. That is unless power is out for more than a day or two. I have moved anything important off the floor of my shop ,which is in my basement. As ready as I'm gonna be. Doesn't look so good for the folks who live closer to the water or in low areas.

I am in the way of the storm. It's ok now but it's supposed to get bad tonight. I a tidally lacquered my uke a bit last night and today. I plan to get another coat or two on it before the bad stuff starts.
I'll pop in from time to time to let you all know I'm ok. No flood risk in my hood but it's getting bad all over NYC. Battery park is flooded in lower manhattan. Robert Deniro can't even get to the Starbucks 15 feet from that other Starbucks he likes. It's awful!

Hope everyone over there is OK, but Deniro can stay at his Starbucks.
Always have plenty of sandpaper; it's rough out there!

I just went out to smoke. It isn't raining but it is crazy windy. My mother in law thinks we are going to have a Florida style hurricane so she is losing her mind. It's fun to watch.
