I ordered a couple of items from Pilgrim Projects (a pretty good outfit, all in all) and the shipping came to $7.95. Then I added a TWO OUNCE bottle of glue to the order and my shipping went up another $3.50.
What the heck? 2 ounces. I emailed the company to complain, but it's probably not their call anyway. But come on, it's hard enough making a buck these days to pay that kind of fee.
$.02. Or actually, $3.50.

Re: Shipping
I feel your pain Dave.
Some places only charge what UPS or USPS or FEDex charges, others tag on a "handling fee", and then others have set rates on a scale depending on how much you spend. Shipping charges have increased alot in the last say, 10 years, along with the rest of the economy I suppose.
It is a shame. I especially hate the minimum "flat rate" charges....even if you only spend $.60 for something, you end up paying the $9.95 miniumum shipping charge. I just hate that. I asked LMI once if they could just put the little (whatever it was, I don't remember) thing in an envelope and send it USPS first class, and they won't do it, so I paid the $9.95 for an under dollar purchase. I still like them though, they are great people and the prices are not out of line.
The "Sign of the Times". Hi wages, high fuel prices, and even higher taxes!
What we really need is some "hope and change" :>)

Re: Shipping
Tryin' to make $$ these days is no longer "like pullin' teeth", it's significantly harder. Doesn't help much when all the clientele are broke.
Always have plenty of sandpaper; it's rough out there!
Re: Shipping
Many common construction materials have almost doubled in price over the last four years. Plus UPS and Fedex tack on a "fuel" surcharge to our weekly bill -- oh yeah fuels have doubled in price too!

Re: Shipping
Time to shop local, I guess, if you end up paying about the same as you would on the interweb plus shipping and handling and all. Maybe some small businesses can get back in the game.
