I'm new to this forum and thought I would post my latest build. It's acoustic bass guitar, this is the first acoustic for me to build. I have been building electrics for years.
The make shift bridge to locate the saddle position
Looking good so far
The finish has been sprayed and drying. I'll post pics of it finished in about a week or so. Tedward

Re: Latest build
That is REALLY nice work. A number of us have thought about an acoustic bass, and this will be inspirational.

Re: Latest build
Thanks, this build has been quite a challenge for me and fun. It has been going for a year and a half. Three months was building a thickness sander. There sure is a lot to learn and it's really different from building an electric. This addictive hobby can get you to thinking about how to do things.
The back and sides are grafted walnut and the top is Engelmann spruce. Electronics are a K&K pick up under the saddle and an external f-deck piezo preamp. Tedward

I'm not ted (obviously), but grafted walnut is when the walnut farmers graft two species of walnut trees together to form a more disease resistant tree. Many years later, when the tree is cut down, the grafted area where you can see the difference between the two species is very desirable as it's prized for it's beauty.deadedith wrote:Ted (if it is Ted :-) ) - what is 'grafted' walnut?
