Fingerboard Stain

Post by Charlie » Thu Aug 02, 2012 11:54 am

Hi I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question, My fingerboard is Ebony and has some brown streaks in it, which doesn't look bad, but I would like to stain it all black, only because I feel it would look better with the inlays I am using. My question is what black stain can be used on the fingerboard other than the one sold at Stew/Mac? I would like to buy it locally if possible.
Thanks for looking Charlie

Here's the product we have used for years -- it what Stew Mac used to sell, I have not tried the new "green" version

Fiebing's pro oil leather dye -- black -- shoe repair and saddle shops have it.

One vote for not staining -- its wood

At Ken's suggestion I bought some a couple of years ago and it does work just fine.
