Re: Great pictures of Earth
Oh man - that is a great little film.
I was raised on Doc Smith, Asimov, Clarke, Bova, Priest, Delaney - good story-tellers, BUT - the new, hard SF space 'operas' - Like 'Revelation Space' by Alistair Reynolds, or 'Ring' by Greg Bear, or a number of books by Stephen Baxter - wide open, universe-exploring, far-future stuff - those are mother's milk to me at this age.
If Hollywood could produce ONE of those epics! Maybe Peter Jackson could pull it off. No cutesy characters, no furry side-mates, or aliens playing sax in a bar :-) - just follow the book.
The only guitar player in SF that I've run across was Gurney Halleck in Dune. There are no doubt others.
