A few additional comments for builders:

1. You can look at my Photobucket pictures for some more information on the Beam Clamp and some Brace Contouring Fixtures I built. Some of this information is in the 00-12 Fret Album, as well as an additional album - "Contouring Fixtures". My login name is Luthierwannab. You can do a search on this name to see all of my pictures.

2. If you some finishing skills (in particular spraying) you can do a sunburst. I used an airbrush which allows me a lot of control. The toning finish is not really intense (fairly transparent) which also allows you to creep up on the desire effect. Put down a number of clear sealing coats which will help if you have to back up a step. MAKE A SAMPLE SOUNDBOARD/TOP OUT OF A LIGHT COLORED WOOD AND PRACTICE. DO THIS WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING ON A GUITAR - DO IT AS A PRACTICE PROJECT ON IT'S OWN. NO PROBLEM SCREWING UP A PIECE OF SCRAP. NOTHING VENTURED, NOTHING GAINED. GIVE IT A TRY. IT'S LIKE RIDING A BIKE - A FEW SKINNED KNEE'S AT FIRST BUT THEN SUCCESS.

Relative to the 00-12 Fret:

I got the design (profile) from Ken. He used a 000-12 Fret Drawing and modified to suit. The actual 00-12 Fret has a slightly narrower upper bout (approximately 1/2"). Other than that the design should be fairly accurate. I had already braced my top before I find out that I should have used 1/4" wide braces. The 000 used 5/16". I transferred the Bracing pattern from the 000 print and modified where required. I tapered and thinned the braces as much as possible to compensate. I used East Indian Rosewood for the Sides and Back (more traditional would be Mahogany). The top is an extremely "white" book-matched set of Engleman Spruce. The neck is a laminated from Hondouran Mahogany with a traditional slotted headstock. I choose to use a Martin Long Scale (25.4") Finger-Board. I got a 1 3/4" wide "second" directly from Martin. It is probably more "traditional" to use a Martin Short Scale (24.9"). Keeping with the original model I used a Pyramid Bridge.

I actually made the Bending Mold for this model. It was made to fit Ken's Bending Machines. He has this mold at his shop in case you want some bent sides. Ken may have also made a Template for this model.
