Da Plane, Da Plane!

Post by Kevin in California » Mon Jul 09, 2012 7:01 pm

I splurged and had one of these delivered to my house. It is sweet to behold, and hold.
I have not yet taken it to the wood, but will soon. If I like it I may get one of their jack planes.
Lie Nielson low angle block with bronze body. SWEET!

That is a great plane. I've been using my Veritas standard block plane for years now and absolutely love it. I've actually been thinking of getting that low-angle job.

Dave, if you like the standard Veritas block plane, you'll like the low angle version.

The versatility of the low-angle version is phenomenal!
A while back I acquired extra blades for mine and set the bevels at different angles, effectively allowing use on just about any situation I come across.
Went ahead and purchased the optional handle/knob, and now the plane performs exactly as LV advertises- just like a No.3 smoother.
My standard block plane sat so much I ended up selling it!
