They were listing EIR back and side sets for $49.99 and Rosewood Fingerboards for $11.99.
Deal or Not?

Re: Woodcraft Flyer
Not sure what those are supposed to be -- but Woodcraft normally sells Rosewood "starter sets" for $69 anything but straight grain -- student grade.

Re: Woodcraft Flyer
Allied has student grade stuff, I think they call it "second grade" but I don't know how they determine the education level of the wood. Anyway, it is supposed to be really nice and I think cheaper than this. This stuff from woodcraft is not so good from what I have heard.
Re: Woodcraft Flyer
I should point out that I have found some spectacular boards at the Toledo and Grand Rapids Woodcraft stores near me in Michigan/Ohio -- to thier credit Woodcraft does not cherry pick their lumber then set it in a special rack with a jacked up price. When ever I am in the area I stop by and look through the stock on hand -- the saving versus the luthier bulk suppliers and even the mills is substantial.

Re: Woodcraft Flyer
With Ken's initial warning in mind, I stopped at my local Woodcraft on my way to the airport on Sunday as I needed a couple of little bits and it was on my way. There, in the wood rack, was the most beautiful piece of wood I had ever seen. It was an 8 3/4" wide piece 1/4 sawn waterfall bubinga.
I think that I can get 6 sets out of it. The owner agreed to resaw it for me.
I'll post pictures.

Re: Woodcraft Flyer
I guess it just depends on where you are...I went to Colorado Springs Tues and looked at it and it was terrible.
The ripples were so bad you couldn't see the grain...we measured it for fun and it was 1/16" at the bottom if the ripple and 1/8" at the high spots!!
Also...our store won't "Re-saw" or sand anything! :(
