Slo-Set Glue

Hi, I'm getting ready to glue in the purflings and the bindings on my second guitar. When I glued them in on my first projuct I remembered how rushed I was, and was wondering if any of you have used Garrett Wade's Slow-Set Glue? They say it has a 30 minutes open time. I have used TiteBond on everything before, but for this part of the project I would like to take a little more time than what TiteBond allows before it sets.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, but on the last project I used Painter's Mate Green Tape to hold the bindings and purfling after gluing, but had a little problem with the tape to release when removing. I wonder what other Green Tape you have used with good sucess.

I use the slo-glu and it works just fine.
Never tried the green tape - I use the brown stuff from stewmac.

The GW Slow Set is a great choice for bindings and purfs highly recommended -- go for it!

There's a couple of things you can do to help prevent the tape from pulling slivers. I do use the 3m green from the auto paint store. In my opinion the green Frog tape is crap.

Sealing the soundboard is a good idea, some guys swear by pressing the tape against a rag or their shirt before using it to secure the bindings I tiny bit of lint is supposed to reduce tack a little (I never tried this) and use a hair dryer to warm up the tape before pulling it off.

Hi, Thanks for the information. I have ordered the Slo-Set Glue and I was able to find the 3M/Scotch Green tape at the local Sherwin Williams Automotive Finishes store. I'll give these a try, and let you know how it works out.
