Kevin,
Thanks. Yes, I have two sets of ziricote that will one day become guitars. I don't know when though!

John,
Thank you! I saw this matching set online and had to jump on it. I am glad I did!

David L,
Thank you! I consider myself lucky to have this wood. I hope I can do it justice!

I did a quick hand polish to see if there were any areas that needed attention, i.e. I had to go back through some lower grits to get out some sanding scratches from the lower grits. I think I am OK in that when I buff with the compound using my RO buffer, what little scratches there are, will be buffed out. Take a look:

Looks pretty good to me.

I sand with 800 wet/dry, 1000, and then 1500. I found it impossible to take pics of the sanding scratches and what the finish looked like as I went through the grits. It just looked dull.
I had purchased a micromesh kit last year and the sanding block it comes with is great. Hard enough to get a good flat finish, but soft enough to bend to san the waist. I recently read that the sanding sponges you can get at Lowes or Home depot that come with sandpaper on them have a similar sponge inside. Once you use up the paper, keep the sponge. Anyway, thats where I am now. I need to finish up the bridge and prepare to glue it on.
Thanks for looking.

Tony

Looking really nice. I am amazed at the finishes you are getting with a brush. I am looking forward to the bridge you end up with.

Thanks John. It's less about the brush and more about the endless hours of sanding!
