Dominic,
That's sure a good looker.
About the neck. Maybe you could cut the other side back to make them even, then glue strips of binding flat to the outer edges to bring it back to your desired length. They would become another design element that you could claim as intended.

That is a very good idea Carl. I'll step back and think about it while I work on something else.Carl Dickinson wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 4:41 pm Dominic,

Re: Baritone multi scale
I made this pinless bridge which I’m pretty glad of and I thought it would be a good idea to make it bigger since it’s a baritone (no science here) but now that I’m done it looks too big. I got 10.5 mm of wood in front of the saddle, overkill isn’t it?

I agree there is not a need for 10 mm in front of the saddle. The structural purpose above the saddle is to keep the saddle from cracking there. Five millimeters is OK. A longer space (not in reference to yours) behind that saddle provides the gluing surface to keep the saddle on. I have seen stress diagrams that show that the majority of the stress on a bridge is its tail end. As the string tension is rotating the bridge the top is trying to peel away. BTW I have seen stress diagrams of both pinned and unpinned bridges. There was almost no difference in terms of where the stress is.
I love the pinless design you have. I think you could remove 4-5mm from the sound hole side of the bridge and be fine.

Thanks for your input John. Yes, I saw those diagrams too on another forum but for some reason I thought I should make this one bigger. I’ll remove some material on the front side.
