Latest Parlor

Post by Carl Dickinson » Sun Mar 02, 2025 5:19 pm

Just got this one strung up yesterday. Best action right off the bat so far. I think it's number 20.
Top is VG redwood from the bottom of my old hot tub. Maybe could be considered "sinker" since it was underwater for 30 years.
Back, sides and neck is Afrormosia from some ship dunnage. Last set of three I milled out of the 6"x6" beam given to me by a friend who's Dad was a Merchant Marine Captain in the '60s.
Manzanita for the rest, binding, bridge, fretboard, headplate and other details.
I think the natural edged rosette is Yew Burl my neighbor gave me.
My first soundhole attempt too.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the positive comments.
Here's a few other details:
JJB 330 pickup.
Butt joint neck with heel connection through the strap pin with 10/32 insert into the Heel block, opposite on how I've done it before. Seems to work OK so far. Glued the fretboard extension.
Satin nitro finish, sanded with Asselix and Buflex to 3000. No other buffing.
Thanks again. :D
