If you still have pores, my experience is that a rubbed in coat of CA glue over the applied coats does a lot to cover that. Without sanding all off.

I've done that with mixed results but usually it does work okay.
I've resolved myself on the next guitar.....I'll weep CA along over all the binding, purfling joints sides and top and back and scrape flush. Then do it again. When I've done this I usually find close to no gaps.
I'm so sick of the gaps showing up after that first couple coats of lacquer..
