Humidity check

Post by Kenny Wiebusch » Fri Feb 21, 2025 11:10 am

Our furnace has been running overtime. Dryed out this maple back bad enough to break bracing. This had a 15' radius. I think I can save it. Maple is tough stuff.

Ouch.
I struggle with the humidity changes with no controls in my work space. I'd be smart to only build in my area from about Feb to Oct including spraying. But alas, I want to build year around.

I'm sure you can fix it

Very litte runout, nice wood!
Yes you can fix that. Take the braces off and let it cure.

I've got a 180 SF room for assembly and wood storage that humidity is controlled by an Inkbird Humidity Controller IHC200. There is a 2 gallon dehumidifier (w/hose to outside) and a 1 gallon humidifier (that needs filling daily sometimes) plugged into it. Set to 45% it works great. The humidifier needs to have analog controls. I got two humidifiers with digital controls before I figured that out  .
