tail and neck block

Can someone show me a picture of the blocks and how the grain is orientated to the sides. Their are many ways it seems. A picture tells a better story . And the whole 1/4 sawn thing as well.

Different makers orient blocks both with the grain of the sides (horizontal) and perpendicular to the side grain. Horizontal I think is the preferred choice since it is easier to trim and shape the blocks prior to gluing on the top and back. I recommend adding a reinforcement strip to the tail block as a little insurance to prevent cracks along the grain.
