Aqua coat grain filler

Post by Geocoucou79 » Fri Jan 19, 2024 5:55 pm

Hi,

I just routed my binding channels and I know many recommend applying a coat of shellac before gluing the bindings to protect the top, back and sides from glue and tape. I’m planning to use tru oil to finish mu guitar and to put one or two layer of aqua coat before. Would aqua coat be enough to protect the wood during the binding sequence?

Thanks

I have used aqua coat but I am not sure if it will meet that need. Maybe aqua coat and some true oil? I always a couple of wash coats of shellac. It will go away as you do finish sanding prep.
