Tips that work, Gluing neck extension with few glue drops

In the magazine of the GAL (Guild of American Luthiers) they have a page, "It worked for me", about tips and tricks that works for someone and might work for others too.

Maybe, John, that could be a subforum here too. 'cause it is great sharing and fun to read.

I start with one of mine:
When glueing or bolting a neck to a body, most people glue the entire fretboard extension to the top.
When a neck reset is due, that kind of glue joint need a good and long time heating. But still hard to get under it and making it free.
I did a few resets and I encountered that, when a fingerboard extension only is glued with a few glue drops at the end, it is very easy to loosen the extension. Saves time, hassle and the chance of damaging the finish.

So do yourself a favor. When attaching a neck, don't drown the fretboard extension in glue.

That is how I intend to do it as well. I was thinking of gluing the perimeter with a thin line of glue. If a few drops at the end work, I may try that. Thanks.
