OO Spruce/Maple sunburst

Post by Herman » Fri Jun 02, 2023 12:01 pm

Through time I made a few guitars. This is #47, a "double O", a small guitar from woods that were orphans. The great German Spruce top had a small defect on the outside, so I decided to use a sunburst. Tobacco burst, amber with brown. I had this hick-up with the colored finish, but I decided to go on. In the end it has some little flaws on the edge of the fingerboard, but touching it it up would create bigger visuals spots. I will not receive the high end money. But the guitar plays and sounds great, so someone will be happy with it.

Ah, Herman, this looks just fine. Love the sunburst and contrasting colors!

But the sound is where it's at, love that delicate picking. What are the little holes on the bass side of the upper bout? I'm assuming they're sound holes but my first impression was that crafty Herman concealed electronic buttons.

And #47, that's a remarkable achievement, too.

Thanks Will,
Those holes are "soundports". They help the sound getting to the player.
Some love it, some hate it. I love it, it really projects more sound to the player.
